Peace of Walking Meditations

I chose this beautiful scene because it is an area where I love to walk and helps me connect to the peace that I wish to see and be in our world. My mantra here is “Peace, Hope, One-ness” because Mother Nature is a profound place of peace for me.

PEACE OF WALKING MEDITATIONS

Dear Friend in Peace,

What joy it is to join here every Sunday in Peace!  Whatever the world might offer us in distractions or invitations to fear, we know we will meet here and remind ourselves and one another of what is real and possible: love, compassion, kindness, sisterhood/brotherhood, equality, and peace.

Some years ago, my friend Albert, who is a member of this Peace Clan, introduced me to a delightful, playful routine of walking mantras.  We are both daily walkers and he has a sweet practice of speaking a word or syllable (silently or aloud) with each footstep so that an ordinary walk is transformed into a walking meditation.

Never having done such a thing, it took me a while to get the hang of it. I overthought and focused on my feet.  When I allowed my feet to walk in rhythm with the words and the words to guide my walking, I had it and I was hooked!  It’s so simple and powerful.  Rather than overthink, just allow a rhythm to emerge and walk to it.  Choosing one syllable words for the first two words and then more syllables for the 3rd helped me get started.  Here’s an example with the words Peace, Love, Compassion:

♥   Peace (step 1)

♥   Love (step 2)

♥   Com- (step 3)

♥   Pass- (step 4)

♥   Sion  (step 5)

Walking to a rhythm is part of what makes it such fun!  You may have noticed the words I chose. The words you choose should reflect the world you wish to see.

This practice imprints in your body and Mother Earth the vibration of what you want.

This is essential.

Always, always focus on what you want.

Nurture the vibration of what you want.

Holding the vibration of what we don’t want or focusing on what we don’t want, makes that part of our energy and our experience so stick with the positive.  Live what you believe.

Here are some examples of ones I have enjoyed and continue to use:

Hope, Joy, Community

o   Hope

o   Joy

o   Com-

o   Mun-

o   i-

o   ty

You have the idea now:

♥   Peace, Love, E-qual-it-y

♥   Peace, Love, In-te-gri-ty

♥   Bright, Light, Com-mun-i-ty

♥   Peace, Hope, Jus-tice

♥   Calm, Hope, Ci-vil-i-ty

Every step we take can be an affirmation of life and of the peace, compassion, and kindness we wish to see and be.

So my friends, you have the idea:  tell yourself, tell the world what you are for and affirm that in every step!

With a bow to Thay (Thich Nhat Hahn), here is my final offering:

  • My
  • feet
  • kiss
  • Mother
  • Earth

May your feet “kiss the Earth” as well.  May you be blessed in your walking meditations as you choose to create the world you want in every step.

Yours in peace and love always,
Donna
