PEACE OF PATIENCE: PART 2

Dear Friend in Peace,

In an area of the world where instant gratification is the norm, patience stands out as a quaint and slightly old-fashioned idea. If we must have immediate results or become annoyed and upset by anything except the fulfillment of our current desire, we will never be peaceful because Patience is an essential part of Peace.

Wouldn't you know I would be writing about Patience as a path to Peace of the very day when it has felt as if the stars were aligned against me and whatever patience I have, which is normally a fair bit, had taken a nap and left me to wallow in some silly impatient and unpeaceful sidetracks? Fortunately, peace is truly more important to me than pouting so I am grateful to know that patience, like peace, is always available for the choosing.

The path back to peace through patience is simple:
• Stop, breathe and invite patience to expand within your heart.
• Breathe out any impatience - let it go... It wasn't that much fun anyway!
• Allow yourself to simply BE, no judgments, no fear, just be and feel patience expanding within your heart.
• Smile and thank Patience for bringing you back home to Peace.
Sometimes the world offers us seemingly infinite opportunities to practice the peace of patience through events that are neither kind, humane, or born of integrity. Here is where our patience is essential.

When I think of patience, this photo comes to my mind immediately. I wanted to photograph water with rings expanding outward to create a peaceful image. Ernie agreed to toss a stone in the water to help create the image I sought. Countless stones later, this image was captured. Not once did Ernie say, "This is taking too long," or "My arm is tired," or "I'm done!" Instead, he just kept on tossing stones until the right and perfect image appeared. When I look at this photo, I am reminded of the peace born of patience through Ernie's calm willingness to just keep tossing.

May we visualize and work together peacefully and patiently to create a world of loving kindness and peace for all. We realize that not everyone may be ready for such a world at this moment. Patience allows us to maintain inner peace and to know that together, in time, we will create a world of peace and loving kindness choosing peace in every breath, every step, and every thought.

Flowing from that vision, are words often quoted by Reverend Loren Flickenger. They are ingrained in my heart. May they ease our path to peace through patience:

"Dear God,
I can hardly wait to see the good
that is coming from this mess!"
- Catherine Ponder
