May we look for common ground.
May we see the Light in all.
May we open our hearts to all
our brothers and sisters.
May we see, feel, and live oneness.
May we become the love and peace
we wish to see.

PEACE THROUGH ONENESS
Dear Friend in Peace,
A New Year will be here soon. This can be a time to reflect on the past and set resolutions for the coming year. My friend and wise soul, Jo Mooy, suggested to all in the Women’s Meditation Circle of Southwest Florida to pick a word to focus on for the New Year. Words such as patience, kindness, faith, calm, hope, and optimism have been selected.
My choice was simple, one that has become a life focus for me and one I offer to you as a path to peace: oneness. Those of you who have read my book Sanctuary of Peace know it begins with these words:
“I envision a world in which our fundamental oneness with all is so totally understood, that only peace and love are possible.”
There are, and always have been, voices willing and able to encourage us to practice “othering,” by looking for and focusing on differences and fault-finding. As people of peace, rather than waste the blessings of being alive by getting side-tracked into division and anger, it is ours to look for, see, and rejoice in the oneness of all.
Fortunately, it is simple since we truly are ONE with all that is. We are one species: human, we are one world, we are part of Mother Earth. We are one with trees which help us breathe and bring us shelter and food. We are one with bees which pollinate our food and live in our plants. Everywhere we look, we are one. One with our neighbors who just came through the hurricanes with us and may have helped us and vice versa. The Divine design of this universe is one of interdependence, of oneness. Everyone and everything plays a part in this miraculous world in which we live.
As we focus on seeing and cultivating oneness with all, we become living sources of oneness which then spreads to others. Our choices for oneness, for acceptance, for compassion and for peace change us and everything around us. We become instruments of oneness and peace.
Thank you for choosing peace in your thoughts, words, and actions.
Yours in peace and love always,
Donna
