I chose this photo taken in the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park because the park is the largest State Park in Florida running 20 miles long and 5 miles wide. Its expansiveness gives one the feeling of great openness. This beautiful water lily is a living demonstration of openness and peace.

PEACE OF OPENNESS
Dear Friend in Peace,
A few years back, my friend Pam shared with me her four spiritual foundations for that year. They were Integrity, Peace, Love, and Non-judgment. I was inspired and intrigued by her choices. However, the word non-judgment did not fit with the other three, so I asked if there was an uplifting substitute. Almost immediately, she replied: “Openness.”
When I hear or say the word openness, I see open fields, clouds, and movement. I breathe more deeply, my heart fills with peace, and I become more peaceful.
Take a moment now and feel the difference in your heart when you say and hear, “non-judgmental” and when you say and hear, “openness.” Not only does openness offer the positive vibration we desire, it offers peaceful results in our lives when we choose to keep our hearts and minds open.
Life is a glorious explosion of possibilities: kindness, beauty, compassion, gratitude, brotherhood, sisterhood, and finding better ways to help everyone. It’s simple, when we are open, our minds are not busy judging and our hearts are free to love and open to embrace the blessings of peace.
The more peaceful we become, the more peace that can flow from us to others, and to our world.
"The openness of our hearts and minds can be measured by how wide we draw the circle of what we call family."
- Mother Teresa

Openness as a path to Peace
As I open my eyes each morning
Breathing in the blessings of a new day
I open my mind
I open my heart
Open mind
Open heart
Sees Light in friends
Sees Light in neighbors
Sees Light in strangers
Sees Light in everyone
Breathing deeply,
I breathe in openness and feel peace
Exhaling completely,
I breathe out, sharing peace
Breathing in Openness
I feel peace
I exhale peace
I am peace
