This photo was taken from a small plane when my friend Judi and I travelled to Alaska. We were on the way to Denali, the Mountain, when I took this photo. It feels perfect to go with this post about Peace as a Priority because my entire being was filled with joyous wonder and peace at this magnificence. Mother Earth's blessings remind us Peace is our natural state and a most worthwhile Priority.

Today and every day, let's make Peace our Priority.

PEACE OUR PRIORITY

Dear Friend in Peace,

Choosing to make peace our priority offers us an inner well of tranquility in which to live fully present in the serenity of now. Our great teacher, Thay, (respectful nickname of Thich Nhat Hahn) instructs us in the peace of mindfulness to be fully present to the act of washing dishes when we are washing dishes, to be fully present to the act of drinking tea when we are drinking tea. Not because those tasks cannot be done while preoccupied, but because being fully present to drinking tea and/or any other action grounds us in the present moment, which is where peace is experienced and nurtured. Thay guides and reminds us to live Peace as our Priority through being fully present.

Mary Oliver wisely asked:
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?"

May we answer:
"Peace will be my priority and
guide my thoughts, words, and actions.
Any time I do not feel peaceful, I will STOP.
I will breathe out all that is not peace.
I will breathe in Peace.
I will place my hand(s) on my heart
and allow peace to flow to every cell in my body."

I have found it worthwhile for me to have physical reminders of peace in my environment to assist in the process of making Peace as a Priority. I used to write the words PEACE on my knuckles. It's inexpensive, simple, and it works! Writing PEACE on mirrors can be effective too and always makes me smile. How have you or might you remind yourself that Peace is YOUR priority?

Thank you for choosing peace in your thoughts, words, and actions.
Yours in peace and love always,
Donna
