Eagles teach us about rising above, soaring and seeing everything and everyone in a new light, a new perspective: a perspective of peace. Any time we feel tempted to think limiting thoughts, we can rise above and soar on high with our brother Eagle in the Peace of Perspective. PEACE OF PERSPECTIVE
Dear Friend in Peace,
When thinking about ways of anchoring peace, the power and peace of perspective arose. The first time I remember using the power of perspective to bring me peace was when I was working at Venice Middle School. I was conversing with another teacher, and the conversation had turned in a direction that was uncomfortable and unpeaceful for me. Rather than continue in misery, I simply offered myself a different and higher perspective of the scene. There was no need to argue or be upset, I reminded myself I did not know everything about this person, her needs, her challenges, the totality of her situation. I imagined myself floating above us and beaming love to her and to myself. My new higher perspective, without judgments, with the desire for peace for her and myself was all I needed to be peaceful.
In our normal state of awareness, we may have a limited perspective; we see what we expect to see. If we walk up a hill, a mountain or a tower, we see beyond our normal limited view of the world and might view an entire town from above, not just our own little street. Given the perspective of being on an airplane or mountain top, things that seemed so big and overwhelming in our little corner of the world are minuscule, if visible at all. Our awareness switches from me and my little corner of the world, to us and our connection and fundamental oneness with Mother Earth, other beings, and fellow humans. From here, peace simply flows for we know we are one with all.
Thank you for choosing peace in your thoughts, words, and actions.
Yours in peace and love always,
Donna
