Peace of Inspiration: Part 5

I chose this photo of a Giant Cypress tree because of Anne’s daily delight in a Chestnut Tree she could see through a small opening in their attic hiding space. Being able to see the green leaves, a bit of sky, and birds brought Anne great joy and solace. The original Chestnut Tree near their hiding space died some years back. This majestic Giant Cypress feels like a fitting substitute for Anne’s beloved mighty Chestnut tree.
Mother Nature blesses us with beauty, peace, and love in remarkable and majestic forms. Trees such as Anne’s favorite bring us not only joy and inspiration, but also a profound sense of peace. May this majestic giant Cypress in Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary bring peace, hope, and joy to your heart as well.

PEACE OF INSPIRATION - PART 5

Dear Friend in Peace,

Some days connecting to peace and hope is easier than others. To help maintain and sustain our serenity we have connected to peaceful inspiration from wayshowers such as Mahatma Ghandi, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Thich Nhat Hahn.

Today we add to our growing list of inspirational guides, a young woman, mature beyond her years in hope, inspiration, and spiritual wisdom: Anne Frank. Whenever I feel tempted to agonize and wallow in grief and frustration over injustices in our world, I remember Anne’s words. They were written in 1944 while she and her family were hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam. She was 15 years old when she wrote this inspirational statement of faith in the goodness of all of us.

“I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.”
- Anne Frank

Reading Anne’s diary, as I did at age 16, I was intrigued, horrified, and totally engulfed in the life and world of this remarkable girl. She wrote in her diary to an imaginary friend, “Kitty,” of her worries of being captured and going to a concentration camp. She wrote of her infatuation with Peter, wearing lipstick, and frequent squabbles among the 8 people crammed in their small attic hiding space. This young channel of wisdom, courage, and compassion also wrote of her faith in the innate goodness of all of us.

When I forget and begin to moan about the misery of our nation and our world, Anne’s voice whispers to my heart:
“remember… people are really good at heart.”

I allow Anne’s vision to guide me to look for and discover the light in everyone and to keep my own Light shining with love, compassion, and peace.

Like Anne, may we rise above noises of hate and fear and focus on the myriad blessings of Mother Nature.

Focus
Today I choose to focus on blessings.
I breathe in peace from trees and plants around me.
I watch birds flying about in the sky and recognize and savor the joy Anne felt.
I see clouds and sky and breathe in their beauty and serenity.
I send out my love to all my brothers and sisters everywhere, knowing our oneness.
I hear Anne whispering in my heart:
I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.”
With Anne, I breathe in peace
With Anne, I breathe out love and compassion for all.

Thank you for choosing peace in your thoughts, words, and actions.
Yours in peace and love always,
Donna
