I chose this photo of a Red-Shouldered Hawk because Hawks remind us with their clear,
loud cries to pay attention, to listen, and to choose our words wisely.
They remind us to speak up for what matters:
for compassion, kindness, and peace and justice for all.

PEACE OF INSPIRATION - Part 3
Dear Friend in Peace,
As people of peace, maintaining and sustaining inner calm is our commitment to ourselves, to one another, and to our world, no matter the outer circumstances. Seeing our democracy and all our nation stands for being severely threatened and damaged is challenging indeed and calls for us to dig deep into our hearts to stay connected to love, compassion, and the principle on which our nation rests: Liberty and Justice for all.
As we recognized a few weeks ago, inspiration feeds our souls and helps bolster our peace power. This week’s inspiration flows from one of the most revered and wise souls who has ever walked this Earth: Thich Nhat Hahn.
In 1966 his nation of Viet Nam was at war and had split into North Vietnam and South Vietnam and they were at war with one another. When asked whether he was for North Vietnam or South Vietnam, he stated: “Neither. I am for Vietnam.” With those five words, he articulated Peace.
Rather than finding divisions, he saw similarities. Rather than looking for arguments, he brought Peace and showed us the way through our current challenges. As people of peace, we are not for Republicans, we are not for Democrats, we are FOR the United States of America and the American people.
With peace as our guide, we can find our way through challenging situations by waiting to respond and asking ourselves this simple question:
“How would I feel if someone said to me the words that I am about to say to this person?”
Yes! Peace can help us NOT say that which needs not to be said.
Pause for Peace
Rather than jump in
with minds afire
with arguments and condemnations,
may we simply,
mindfully
Pause for Peace.

Dear Peace,
Thank you for helping me remember to Pause, to wait and to allow your loving kindness and compassion to soothe my heart and help me remember:
I love my sisters and brothers and
want only good for them
and our nation.
Your peace, my peace, our peace changes everything.
Thank you for choosing peace in your thoughts, words, and actions.
Yours in peace and love always,
Donna
